
A late nineteenth / early twentieth-century Romanian marriage chest.
Carefully crafted in the traditional folk style of the farming & mountain communities of Romania, this chest derives from the mountain areas of Apuseni, Bihor and Codru-Moma. The woodwork techniques have changed very little from medieval times and still uses wooden pegs and tenon joins. This particular chest uses sacred geometric flower of life markings as a decorative design.
